90210 is back!!

I don't know about you guys...but I was a diehard fan of Beverly Hills 90210! I was a faithful viewer the entire 10 years and cried the last episode when Donna and David FINALLY got married! My best friend and I had matching Luke Perry or Dillon nightshirts and we wore them ALL THE TIME (don't worry, this was when we were in 4th grade I think, not high school). I am even guilty of leaving YW early so I could get home in time to watch it. And if a soccer game or cheerleading event were on a Wednesday night I would get out a VHS and tape it. It is always sad when one of your favorite shows decides to end...especially when you were part of their world for 10 years. Here I have posted a picture of the Orignal cast...before Brenda moved back to Minnesota, before Kelley from Saved By The Bell came on, before the chick from Las Vegas was Donna's long lost sister, before Jason Priestly decided to be a producer instead of an actor and when Donna was still a "good girl." Those were the good ole' days!

If you haven't heard, they are doing a spin-off of the original show and calling it, "90210." Jennie Garth will be playing Kelly Taylor once again, only this time she's one of the adults. I think some of the other cast members from the original show will be making guest appearences. I'm fully going into this expecting to be disappointed since I was such a big fan of the original, and the fact that I am now an adult and probably won't appreciate it as much. But regardless, my DVR is set to record the first episode this Tuesday at 8pm. For all you 90210 fans out there, let me know what you think!

The new cast is pictured above.

ALL ABOUT JARON!

Yakimammish Part II

So while the boys were out fishing the girls were...SHOPPING of course! Jenn and I had a great time trying to find matching shirts...I know, we did this when we were little, but it's still fun. I LOVE shopping and shopping for people. I put my mom in a dressing room and just kept picking out clothes for her for about 2 hours, it was so much fun. We also went to Yakima to stay with Jaron's parents and attended Jaron's 10 year reunion. Unfortunately we didn't take ANY pictures while we were there...we'll do better next time. Thank you to our families for making our stay wonderful. We love you!

Jenn and I in our matching shirts making a "tough" face.

Me, Scott (Bug), and Jenn. Yes, I am the oldest and the shortest.

What a happy family

Yakimammish

This summer we were lucky enough to go "home" twice. Our last trip was just a few weeks ago and we had a really great time. We landed in Seattle and stayed with my parents in Sammamish for the first couple days. My dad is an avid fisherman, everyone knows that if you want a good fishing trip you ask him to take you or pray for an invitation. Jaron and Landon went fishing with him our first time home the beginning of May and didn't have much luck since it wasn't really the season for anything we wanted to eat...BUT, they had a great time and thought it was beautiful. So, Jaron was just hoping they'd get to go on another trip this time around and catch some fish! On a side note, the Atlantic Salmon are NOT good, so we are always wishing for Pacific Salmon. Jaron, once again, had a wonderful time and took tons of pics. While they only caught one fish they could keep, they did reel in quite a few sharks and smaller fish...they also caught some crabs in the crab pot. Both the fish and crabs were amazing by the way!

Isn't Washington beautiful!

Our dads on the ocean! So this is what fishing is huh?

This was the keeper and boy did it taste wonderful!

The delicious crabs!

This was one of the many sharks Jaron caught...he said, "it was a lot bigger than it looks in the picture!" Notice how far he's holding the shark away from him...

Thanks for everything dad, it was wonderful!

Mom's Chili

So my mom (Lisa) has been known to get around the kitchen. A few years ago there was a ward activity that included a chili cooking contest. She likes to experiment with recipes and cook so she decided to make three different types of chili to share and they all ended up in the contest. The judges didn't know who had made each pot as they tasted the chili and her recipe won first place! Then her other recipe was awarded second place. And yeah, the last recipe she entered got third.

So even though it's August Amy has been craving chili. Go figure. She got one of these recipes from my mom for chicken chili (Amy wouldn't eat ground beef if her life depended on it) and we set out to the store to get the ingredients. First of all, what are ranch beans? We didn't know, and our grocery store didn't have them so we had to substitute other beans. All beans are pretty good anyway. Then the recipe called for green peppers. Does that mean green bell peppers or green jalapeno peppers? We figured bell peppers aren't spicy so we went with the jalapeno peppers.

As we started cooking all of this stuff it smelled delicious and the jalapenos (2 medium sized bad boys) didn't smell too hot so I chopped them up and threw them in. By the way, we were halving the recipe since it's just us two.

It was pretty hot. Amy likes spicy food and she had about three bites and threw in the towel. She described it as "so hot that it killed all my taste buds and I may never enjoy food again." I thought it was pretty spicy but I managed to knock out my bowl...and the rest of hers. The next time I have a cold we are making this stuff again and I'm sure it will clear me right up.

I brought some to work the next day for lunch and shared a little with my coworkers and the one girl that really likes spicy food got red in the face, started sweating, and headed straight for the water cooler.

Anyway, it was a little too spicy but delicious, even in August. Maybe Amy will post the recipe for anyone that's interested. But if you decide to make it, go easy on the jalapeno peppers...

Our first blog...

We've never really had our own web site before, or blog, Amy just signed up for a MyFace account recently so I guess we're late adapters within the realm of communications technology. Nevertheless we have arrived--not because we have anything particularly important to write about, but I'm sure we have something to contribute to society and now we have the forum to comunicate it! Stay tuned for our upcoming posts, and until then enjoy our really outdated picture slideshow.
